In the US, MTV broadcast a premiere of the film on, and the Sundance Channel broadcast the documentary nine times during May 2000. In the UK, Channel 4 broadcast the film on. Several television channels broadcast Meeting People Is Easy after its release. It was the first DVD ever released by Radiohead's record label EMI/ Parlophone/ Capitol Records. It was released in both formats on in the United States. Meeting People Is Easy was released on VHS on 30 November 1998 in the United Kingdom. Whether the creature itself exists - or, indeed, anyone would believe the protagonist if it does - is left unclear, even as it chases its quarry out onto the street. It creates the impression of one unbroken shot, which ratchets up the tension as Pearce begins to interact with his assailant. This is a great example of what can be done with creative drone work, as the central character is pursued by an increasingly aggressive, unseen insect or creature. Actor Guy Pearce stars as a seemingly paranoid recluse in the film, which uses a grungy, lo-fi tone to match the accompanying track's early-Nineties acoustic groove.
